Turkey Creek

In Jefferson County near Pinson lies the last remnants of a series of beautiful clear streams flowing over solid rock bottoms. The good news is that the Black Warrior - Cahaba Rivers Land Trust has secured the narrows as the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. Given enough funding this land trust has the ability to protect, improve and create a natural treasure that has suffered mightily from the heavy hand of man. The Vermillion darter (Etheostoma chermocki) is only found in a three to five mile stretch of Turkey Creek in Northern Jefferson County near the town of Pinson.
