Hurricane Creek

Hurricane Creek is the crown jewel of Tuscaloosa County. It is the last canyon stream to flow into the Black Warrior River before it enters the coastal plain. Because of the unique geological juncture the watershed is a treasure chest of plants. E.O. Wilson, who did his first ant studies here while at the University of Alabama, said that you would have to go half way around the world to the Tibetan Plateau in order to find this much plant diversity. I am very thankful for the Friends of Hurricane Creek working to protect this fragile watershed. With a group as organized and active as the Friends of Hurricane Creek, this stream could be a great success story. Learn more at www.hurricanecreek.org.
